Things I Love - Lilac Ave

When it comes to shopping, I try not to do very much of it. (I'm a recovering shopaholic.) But sometimes, this girl just needs some goodies. When I do, I support American made, local owned, green, small business, and true artisans. On Different Shades of Green, I want to share the socially and ecologically responsible companies and products that I have tried and love.  Enter my favorite small (she calls it micro) business ~~~ Lilac Ave.

Lilac Ave is my go to spot for candles and gifts. The products make people HAPPY! And giving them makes me happy because of the all natural ingredients, thoughtful packaging, and use of recycled materials.

It all started with candles - scrumptious smelling, long lasting, affordable candles. I was smitten with the idea of choosing a recycled container, and then having it refilled again and again. Lilac Ave uses 100% soy wax for the candles and tarts, which burns cleaner and longer than paraffin wax. It's eco-friendlly, renewable, and grown in the USA. Doesn't get much better than that, does it? Oh wait, it does - they smell divine!

Once I realized how great the candles were for myself, I started giving them as gifts. Lilac Ave even made me a custom order of personalized candle tins to give to my family at Christmas. That was a winning combo - personalized makes people smile, and the candle keeps them smiling for months to come.

It goes way beyond candles now though. There is an all natural Bath and Body line (of which the lip balm is my FAVE), and a men's line. Friends with babies swear by the "Sweet Cheeks Butt Bar" for sensitive baby bums. And what man can resist a "Fight Club" bar of soap? They'll feel so manly in the shower. ;)

If you'd like to learn more, follow Lilac Ave on Facebook - there are specials going all the time. And check out the website ~www.LilacAve.com. This is my favorite kind of business - thoughtful, responsible, and with a direct economic impact on a personal level, corporate giants and all their stinkin' chemicals removed. And the product really is THAT good. That's why it's my first one to feature. Try it. I promise you won't be disappointed.

  1. I agree! Everything that comes from Lilac Ave is amazing. Much better than anything you could get from some giant corporation, and it's good to know that you are supporting an actual person.

  2. These look like they smell amazing!! I love when you find stuff like this! So you said you were from MD and grew up in DC... you will have to tell me some good places to check out! I haven't met many people get because we aren't living on base and my husband's command doesn't have a family readiness so it's kind of like... fend for yourself! LOL.. I am looking for exciting things to do with my family and with my daughter so ANY advice would be much appreciated! haha
